Nearby Cities and Attractions
One of the best things about Preservation Point is our location. You’re tucked into a quiet corner of Florida’s Nature Coast, but a short drive in almost any direction opens up to some of Florida’s iconic destinations. Springs, horse country, historic downtowns, world-class wildlife encounters — it’s all within easy reach. Here’s a look at what’s nearby.

Crystal River, FL
Crystal River is about 25 miles west and home to one of the most unique wildlife experiences in the country. The natural springs here are 72 degrees year-round, drawing manatees in large numbers through the winter months. Snorkel alongside them, paddle the spring runs, or walk the boardwalk at Three Sisters Springs and watch the whole underwater scene unfold below you. It’s a bucket-list day trip that’s right in your backyard.

Inverness, FL
Inverness is Preservation Point’s hometown. A historic courthouse square anchors a walkable downtown with local restaurants and shops, while Cooter Pond Park and the Withlacoochee State Trail meander right along the waterfront. Fort Cooper State Park is just down the road for hiking and paddling. It’s a great spot for a small Florida city kind of day.

Ocala, FL
About 40 miles east on US-44, Ocala is home to Silver Springs State Park, hundreds of horse farms, and the World Equestrian Center. The glass-bottom boat tours at Silver Springs have been running for over a century, and the wild rhesus monkeys living in the riverside trees are a fun bonus! Downtown Ocala has good food, local shops, and the Appleton Museum of Art rounding out a full day.

Wildwood, FL
Wildwood sits at the junction of I-75 and the Florida Turnpike, making it the easiest day trip from Preservation Point for travelers staying with us. Lake Okahumpka Park is a quiet local favorite for fishing and morning walks, and Brownwood Paddock Square just south of town has free live music every night of the week. Lake Panasoffkee is close by for anglers and anyone who wants to see Florida from the water.
