Things to do while in Ocala

Silver Springs State Park
Silver Springs has been drawing visitors for over 100 years, and the glass-bottom boat tours are still the main event. The spring water is so clear you can watch turtles, fish, and the occasional manatee moving around below the surface. Beyond the boats, there’s kayaking on the Silver River, hiking trails through old-growth forest, and a population of wild rhesus monkeys that have been living in the trees here since the 1930s. It’s one of Florida’s genuinely iconic stops.

World Equestrian Center
The World Equestrian Center is one of Ocala’s premier destinations and a centerpiece of the region’s horse country reputation. This massive equestrian complex hosts international competitions, exhibitions, shopping, dining, and seasonal events throughout the year. Even visitors unfamiliar with equestrian sports often stop by to explore the beautifully designed grounds and lively atmosphere.

Appleton Museum of Art
The Appleton Museum of Art houses an impressive collection ranging from European paintings and contemporary works to African and Asian artifacts. Located near Silver Springs, the museum offers a quiet cultural experience that contrasts with Ocala’s outdoor attractions. Rotating exhibits and sculpture gardens make it a fascinating stop for visitors looking for a bit of art and history.
After a day in Ocala, the drive back to Preservation Point on US-44 takes you straight through some of the prettiest countryside in Central Florida.
